Ready to talk about diversity but don't know where to start?
I help teams dive into diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) -- from implementing training and community building to strategic planning and assessment. I describe three components that are critical to effective DEI engagement below.
Effective and intentional diversity work requires us to tend to the following areas:
KNowledge & skill development
Diversity, equity, and inclusion knowledge and skill development impacts our thoughts, attitudes, actions and behaviors. It is foundational to intentional engagement in DEI. Knowledge and skill development is a continuous process.
community, culture, & climate
Tending to community, culture, and climate ensures that diversity, equity, and inclusion permeate all aspects of organizational culture. It extends beyond "diversity training" and ensures that everyone in a given environment feels a sense of belonging.
assessment, planning,& evaluation
Tending to DEI-related assessment, planning, and evaluation holds us accountable for our DEI efforts. We are able to assess our efforts, plan accordingly, and determine if policies, practices, and outcomes align with a commitment to DEI.
